*4-Year Letterman in football

*Named All-Volunteer Conference & All-West TN in 1966.

*Offensive MVP of '66 Butter Bowl (15-26, 222 yds, 2 TD)

*Compiled a record of 27-5 as starting QB for Camden.

*QB of the 1965 undefeated CHS football team. 

*3-Year Letterman in basketball, earning All-District in '67.

*Member of the UTM baseball team from '69-71

*Team MVP in 1970.

*Lettered in both football and baseball at UTM.

*VSAC All-Conference Team in 1970 & 1971.

*Coached Lake County High School football from 1973-1982.

*Class A State Champions (1980)

*2x Class A Runner-Up (1977, 1979)

*Jackson Sun Coach of the Year: 1980

*Coached Huntingdon High School from 1984-1990

4x TSSAA District Coach of the Year 

*2010 UT Martin Athletic Hall of Fame Inductee (Baseball)

* Played for Holladay High School from 1947-1951

* Reputation as one of the best to ever play at Holladay

* The local newspaper reported that he

"ran like greased lightning", "jumped like a deer", and was "tough as a pine knot"

* Attended UT-Martin Branch

* Served 2 years in US Army & 4 in Army Reserve

*Later, coached 3 years of Little League in 3 different cities

* Helped lead Big Sandy to back-to-back substate appearances in 1984-85 & 1985-86 seasons

* Scored total of 1,984 career points

* Long time supporter of athletics in both Big Sandy and Camden

*CHS Softball Booster President for 2010 State Champion Lady Lions Softball team

* Coached football at Tampa Catholic High School, leading them to numerous conference and regional titles

* Also served as the Dean of Students

* Transferred to Murray State and was 3-Year Letterman there

*Coached Football, Basketball, and Baseball at Houston County High and Obion County High for a total of 12 years.

* Named 1989 Wilson Golf Coaches Association All-American

* One of 20 players selected to play in East/West All-Star match

* Inducted into the UT Martin Sports Hall of Fame in 1997

* Coached Camden High School golf team from 2004-2012

* Director of Schools for Benton County since 2013
