Baseball - Basketball

* As an 8th grader, pitched a no-hitter in his first high school game

* Led the team in batting average all 5 seasons

* 2x All-District (1992, 1993)

* 2x District MVP (1992, 1993)

* Class A Player of the Year (1992-93)

* Averaged 25,8 ppg in basketball

* Scored 2,013 career points

* 1991 All-Region

* 2x All-District (1991-92, 1992-93)

* All-West TN (1993)

* All-State (1993)

HARRIET CHESTER BAILEY

Camden Central High School

Class of 1968

Basketball

* Lettered in basketball at CHS 1965-1968

* Played for Coach Charles Cowell

* Member of the 1967 District Championship team

* First time the Camden girls team had won a district title since 1929

* Voted Team MVP in 1967

* Scored 639 points and averaged 23.4 PPG

* Shot 77.9% from the free throw line

* Team Captain

* Known for superb leadership, and respect for all involved in the game of basketball

JEFF THARPE

Class of 1980

Football

* 4-Year letterman in football under Coach John Bukky

* Selected 1st Team All-Volunteer Conference, 1979

* Voted Team MVP in 1979 and 1980

* Earned scholarship for football to UT Martin

* 4-year letterman at UTM

* 2x Gulf South defensive player of the week

* Earned "Strongest Man" award after his Freshman season

* Graduated with a BS in Criminal Justice and a minor in Business Law (1993)

* Has been in law enforcement for over 30 years

*Fugitive Detective with the US Marshall Task Force

* 3-Year letterman in football

* Started at QB on offense and Safety on defense

* Earned a scholarship to Union University for basketball and baseball

* Earned Masters degree from the University of Memphis in 1973

* Coached at Decaturville High School in 1957-58

* Head Basketball coach of White Station High School from 1958 to 1973

* Served as Athletic Director and Head Football coach at Kingsbury High School from 1973-1978

*Official for college basketball

* NAIA Mid-Region Player of the Year (1998)

* NCCA Baseball 1st Team All-American (1998)

* Trans-South Player of the Year (1998)

* Trans-South All-Conference selection (1998)

*Longest hitting streak in Union Univ. History (22 games)

WILLARD EARL STOKES

Holladay High School

Class of 1954

Basketball

* Played basketball in Jr High and High School

* 4-Year starter on the Holladay basketball team

* Was the leading scorer and rebounder for the team

* Was well known for his free throw shooting

* Awarded a full scholarship for basketball to Austin Peay State

* Unfortunately, was unable to attend APSU

* Served as a member of the US Army in Korea

* Also worked as a Tennessee Highway Patrolman in Dickson

* Volunteer Little League coach

* Known for attending all of his children's sporting events.

BOBBY "FLASH" MELTON

Camden Central High School

Class of 1972

"The Voice of the Camden Lions"

* Earned degree in Communications from the University of Tennessee (1976)

* Became News and Sports Director at WRJB Radio in 1978

*Part-Time employee of WRJB/WFWL calling sports broadcasts of Camden Central High School since 1983

* Also served as part-time reporter for Camden Chronicle and The Magic Valley Times

*Since 1992 has been the "Voice of the Camden Lions" for Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Softball

*On the call for three HR-Bruceton State Championship football games, the 2010 Camden Lady Lions State Championship & '07 Title game, as well as the 1992 Lady Lions basketball state tournament game

*1999 Benton County Man of the Year
