JACKIE BLAND

Big Sandy High School

Class of 1956

Basketball - Baseball

* Said to be one of the best basketball players to come out of Big Sandy High School

* Team in 1955-56 was one of the best Big Sandy High has seen

* Known as an outstanding scorer, rebounder, and defensive player

* Also played American Legion baseball at Camden

* Was a top pitcher with a 90 MPH fastball

* Was first student in Benton County to make a perfect score on the Senior year standardized test

LEIGH ANN PETTYJOHN

Camden Central High School

Class of 1986

Basketball - Softball

* Played Basketball and Softball at Camden

* 1982-1986

* 2x All-District in Basketball (1984-85, 1985-86)

* 2x All-District in Softball (1985, 1986)

* Led team to 4 straight District and Regional Titles in softball

* Softball team went to state tournament all 4 years

* State Runner-up in 1983 & 1984

* Played Softball at Austin Peay State University (1986-1990)

* Still ranked in most statistical categories at APSU

WAYNE CHESTER

Camden Central High School

Class of 1952

Basketball

* 4-Year Letterman in Basketball

* Team Captain, 1951-52

* Led Boy's Basketball team to Regional Finals for first time

* Attended Bethel College to play basketball

* Became Team Captain during his time there

* Chosen VSAC Tournament MVP

* Began coaching in Missouri, but accepted basketball coaching job in Camden in 1960.

* Coached for 3 years, compiling one of the best winning percentages of any Camden coach in history.

Golf - Baseball - Football

* Captain 1973 football team

* 4-Year Letterman in Golf

* 4-Year Letterman in Baseball

* First athlete from Camden to sign a golf scholarship

* Played collegiately at Southern Mississippi

* 1979 University of Mississippi Scholastic Athlete Award

* 1987 member of the Mississippi Cup Team

* 2011 Golf Week Magazine Tournament of Champions winner

* 2011 Golf Week Magazine Senior Player of the Year

BOBBIE SUE (FULLERTON) WARD

Holladay High School

Class of 1951

Basketball

* 4-Year member of the basketball team

* Played 1947-1951

* Team Captain, 1950-51

* Led the team in scoring during her time on the team

* Attended Austin Peay State University and earned a degree in Business Education

* A former teammate said she was "The best basketball player by far that I ever saw play at Holladay School"

Class of 1975

Football - Baseball - Basketball

* Lettered in Football, Baseball, and Basketball at Camden

* 2x All-Volunteer Conference Football (1973, 1974)

* 2x All-West TN - Football(1973, 1974)

* All-State Football (1974)

* 2x All-District/All-West TN - Baseball (1974, 1975)

* Played college baseball at Jackson State

* Set a national record for hitting 5 consecutive home runs (1977)

* Also played baseball at UT Martin

* All-Conference & MVP, 1979

* Coached high school softball in Florida

* Led his teams to 5 Final Four appearances and won the Florida 6A Title in 2011

* 2011 MaxPreps National High School Coach of the Year
